The weather was very clear last Saturday, especially it was the first sketch meeting in four months after Corona19, so the atmosphere of the meeting place was full of vitality. Buam-dong, a beautiful village, is a small tourist attraction that I often visit and sketch because it is close to my home and has various painting elements. The village, which has the rural atmosphere of Bukaksan Mountain and Inwangsan Mountain hills, is filled with many sketching elements, including famous food restaurants, cafes, modern galleries, and registered cultural assets.
In the morning, I sat on the stone steps looking at Bukhansan Mountain in the distance, and began to paint a panoramic view of the village where high and low houses were harmonized. I drew a watercolor on a large piece of paper. When drawing on a larger piece of paper than on a small piece of paper previously drawn, it was certainly beneficial in many ways because it allowed more observation and concentration on the subject.
After lunch, I leaned over the table on the second floor of the cafe(Club Espresso) and sketched the various street views over the window in a comfortable atmosphere. I usually use pens and watercolors, but I think it's good to enjoy different flavors of atmosphere, sometimes using a variety of colored pencils, pastels, and markers, and so forth. Buam-dong is a small and cute village, but it is also a good place to sketch for new challenges to various objects and materials.

sketches at a cafe in Nagwon shopping mall (musical instrument stores)

pen, pastels, 18.5 x 25 cm

I dropped in the Nagwon shopping mall of musical instruments last month. Having tea I saw a woman with grey coat. She was waiting for somebody. A guy came soon. They began to talk about some event related with performance. And two persons arrived at. Though I couldn't grasp what the exact contents they were discussing about, the mood looked good for sketching. Thanks to the pastels I kept I could enjoy drawings.

painting and sketch of Lee Sang-jin on the wall at the cafe

Yesterday I and YH Lee visited the Cafe Gallery One to see the works of Lee Sang-jin. The cafe was a remodeled house. The former rooms were designed newly with pastel tone colors keeping the old structure. We had red-bean sherbet(Patbingsoo) appreciating his nice works. In the cool room we sketched too. Hope your 1st exhibition to be successful, SJ Lee!

Hannam Saemal Cafe, which was the first completed Hangang viewing cafe, and is the ideal place to rest on a river walk. The cafe building is four-stories high with public spaces on the first two floors and the cafe itself on the third and fourth floors, the latter of which is an indoor viewing deck affording wonderful views of the Han River, Hannamdaegyo Bridge and Namsan Mountain.
The weather was so good, and I sketched a lot of attractive sceneries around the cafe here and there excitingly. Welcome to new participants and hope to continue seeing!

at Myungmul Street of Sinchon near Yonsei University, Seoul

pen, A 4
KH Lee said : I had a promise to meet friends at Starbucks in Myungmul Street in the afternoon. While waiting for them to arrive at I started to sketch the scenery seen through the window. I found that it was a useful time to sketch something even for a while. Rather I feared them to come earlier before I finished.
