I've been working in my office near Yonsei University for many years. So I'm familiar with the Sinchon Campus and used to sketch the various scenes of the campus buildings from time to time.
Recently, Yonsei University has completed the campus remodeling project including underground parking lot for several years. So the Baekyang-ro, main axis of the campus, was closed to traffic and changed into the pedestrian mall as a meeting plaza and rest area. It is a great change to the pleasant atmosphere around the campus.
I sketched some new scenes that I didn't draw before and enjoy the fresh atmosphere around the historic campus.

Sketches at Yonsei University

It was a real fine day of Autumn at Yonsei University. I started sketching at Gwanghyewon founded by H. N. Allen on 1885 as the first western medical hospital in Korea. It was restored on 1987 as a hundred year commemorative project of the university. It's unusual to see the Korean style traditional building with special history in such a big scale campus full with modern western buildings. After having very delicious food at cafeteria I stood at center of the famous Baekyangro. Two years ago nobody could stand there setting an easel by passing cars. It became possible for the big parking lot was built under the road. I enjoyed standing in the center sketching the road though the sunlight was very strong still. And the Student Union building had unique facade with repeated windows. I drew part of it. On 4:30 we shared our works inside the building. Thank you all the participants!

at Yonsei University on a graduation day

charcoal, A 4

I went to the Yonsei University for sketching. Wowww, the campus was full of graduation bouquet sellers and the visitors to celebrate the graduates. I sketched the above in front of the Underwood Statue, the founder, where lots of graduates posed for taking photos with parents and friends. I wished their happy future and dreams to come true. God bless you!

A few days ago, I had a chance to sketch at Yonsei University Sinchon Campus near my office. Yonsei University was established in 1885 with an educational mission based on the Christian principles of truth and freedom, and that is not only one of the oldest universities but also the top three comprehensive universities in Korea.
The campus is located in Sinchon minutes away from the center of the metropolis downtown Seoul, and is well arranged in a colorful and natural setting with mix of old and new buildings.
I sketched some symbolic sceneries of the campus among the number of buildings, and enjoyed campus-life atmosphere with the university students.

Today I went to Yonsei University in the afternoon. Campus was full of new and old buildings and young students. I could feel the beauty of late autumn in spite of cold weather.
